30 Sep 2008 - No Adult Content in Bali-wood

New Munger & Mohag adventure is up! You're welcome :) It only took us--what, two weeks?--to respond to this issue. T-Ditty will be along in a bit to give you more background info.

Took me a whopping 8 hours to put this together in PS. Tried a number of new things and am gradually learning to use my newly acquired tablet more and more. Hope y'all like the black borders and word balloons. Peace. --CMS.

Hey everyone, wow, my first freakin' post, it's about time. Anyways, thanks for your support; we promise more exciting adventures of Munger & Mohag in the future, so tell all your friends, family, and enemies (and leave some F-in comments too, jeez!). To get some context for this week's comic strip, read the following articles:

On another note, I will be posting a song every time a new M&M strip is posted. This week's selection is from one of San Diego's hometown heroes - viva la San Diego!!! --Thunder Donkey

24 Sep 2008 - Dogmouth Chronicles (Part 1)

Now for your irregularly scheduled WTF... brought to you by The Devil's Rejoinder! This one's a collaboration with AngrymanArts (of the "Corporate Zombie" t-shirt fame). Those of you that came here for The Munger and Mohag, fear not! They'll be back next episode.

I tried a variety of new things here: most obviously, these big color pencils that have a bunch of different colors all mixed into one lead. Unfortunately, scanning wouldn't pick up the yellows and oranges, so I photographed the paper for those panels.

This was drawn to the sounds of Vince DiCola's Transformers The Movie score (the 80s cartoon version... not the Michael Bay P.O.S.), and digitally edited together while listening to free streaming electronic music from http://di.fm/ Enjoy!

20 Sep 2008 - Cheap Shot

New Munger and Mohag! The torrid tale of tenuous torpor trundles on... Given the current market meltdown, Mohag actually is being pretty smart to leave his money where it is...

This strip was drawn while listening to the musical stylings of the late Warren Zevon. "Mr. Bad Example" is my new favorite song. Click here for a sample of his talents.

Enjoy! --CMS.

17 Sep 2008 - Racing Mirrors

Wow! Two Rejoinders in two days! This is how much we love you! The latest adventure of The Munger and Mohag features an actual rejoinder (in the grammatical sense). Please leave compliments and complaints in the comments section. Thanks! --CMS.

16 Sep 2008 - Maim that Tune

Has this ever happened to you? It doesn't work... trust me. The artwork for this one could be reappropriated for a number of different scenarios... so I decided to make it available for download without the text. If anyone decides to use it and add their own captions, please post a link in the comments (and of course leave/give credit). Thanks! --CMS.

11 Sep 2008 - Omens

Ah, the New York subway and its many-splendored gems. Just in time for the seventh commemoration of the tragedy that happened there... a completely unrelated comic.

On a serious note for a second, I did visit Ground Zero earlier this year and was filled with rage and indignation, at those who allowed this to happen, and a genuine love for New York City. Yes, for some the Twin Towers were the middle finger of capitalism aimed squarely at the have-nots, and for others, simply an eyesore, but dammit, just as the best and the worst are all a part of our human nature, the towers were a part of this city and still loom above the skyline like towering phantom limbs. My heart goes out to the families affected.

Speaking of the Twin Towers, I recently saw a great film called Man on Wire, about Philippe Petit, who secretly strung a tight-rope between the tops and walked back and forth for 45 minutes, 104 stories up, back in 1974. At one point, he even laid down on the rope!

If anyone is interested, you can actually buy a Corporate Zombie shirt from Angryman Arts.

Lastly... crayola sucks! I'm getting rid of the color pencils I've been trying to use and getting some real ones. I colored this strip using them and was not happy with the results... same thing with the "Olympics" comic. It's a good thing I scanned both before coloring since the B&W looked better anyway. Enjoy! --CMS.

9 Sep 2008 - The Olympics

The latest adventure of The Munger and Mohag is here! This comic took me four agonizing days to make. I'll leave it for the kids at home to color. It was actually written several weeks ago. The comic violates several taboos that have been on my mind lately, such as whether to use the word "fuck" or make reference to specific current events/people. I guess the path has been chosen. Enjoy! --CMS.

PS The comic doesn't actually reflect the artist's personal views... well, except for the camel toe part. ;)

PPS Mohag can also be seen occasionally in a much better comic: BLIP. Check it out.

3 Sep 2008 - The Proposal

Since it was more than a week between the first and second comics, here's a third. Enjoy!

Funny thing about this one. I try to avoid staring at the screen unnecessarily as much as possible... that's why all of the art is done on paper. So, it's a bit ironic that I screwed up on the last panel (and didn't realize until I was adding the word balloons). So I had to spend extra time flipping that panel over in PS, then flipping the words on the tombstones around again so they'd be legible, then cleaning the whole thing up. OTOH, I've gotten better at making custom word balloons thanks to the help of a good friend. A la sante! --CMS

3 Sep 2008 - Tikka Masala Crab Grass

After much procrastinating, and much pain in Photoshop fighting with the word balloons, the new comic is up! Introducing The Adventures of The Munger and Mohag! Enjoy... --CMS.

PS Not sure why the comic looks so small. If you click on it, you can see a bigger version. :-(

UPDATE: Now we're cookin' with gas! If you want the blogger posting images to be bigger, do the following: 1) add the image to your post as you're creating it; 2) click on the "Edit Html" tab in the edit-post form; 3) in the "img" html tag, in the "src" url portion, change "s400" to "s800". Apparently blogger uses picasa, which creates different sized versions of your uploaded image... so you can choose which one you want to use.
